The Foundation for American Innovation champions the technology, talent, and ideas essential to American prosperity, security, and flourishing. We are builders, hackers, and scholars advancing an optimistic vision of the future—aligning technology with human ends to forge a more perfect union between innovation and the American republic.

To support this mission, FAI’s AI team is seeking interns for the fall (September–December) with some flexibility regarding start and end dates. Interns support their team’s research and have the opportunity to undertake their own independent research project over the course of the internship. Interns will develop a publishable or shippable product by the end of the internship.

In-person internships at FAI’s Washington, DC, office on Capitol Hill are preferred, though temporary remote work will be considered for exceptional candidates. Both full- and part-time internships are available. Interns are paid $20 an hour. Housing is not provided; interns are responsible for their own travel and living arrangements, and should plan to bring their own laptop.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team's ongoing research, policy analysis, and coalition work, contributing to briefs, memos, and outreach materials.
  • Develop and pitch an original research project with your director and policy team, and carry it to a publishable or finished deliverable by the end of the program.
  • Assist with team events, coalition initiatives, external outreach, and other team needs.

Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the workday in a multi-story facility without elevator access.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

To apply, please complete this form.
