The Foundation for American Innovation champions the technology, talent, and ideas essential to American prosperity, security, and flourishing. We are builders, hackers, and scholars advancing an optimistic vision of the future—aligning technology with human ends to forge a more perfect union between innovation and the American republic.

To support this mission, FAI is seeking a Program Manager to join the team.

Reporting to the Director of Technology and Statecraft, this person will be responsible for coordinating directly with the Director and fellow team members to develop effective policy products, manage policy events and convenings related to technology and statecraft, manage relationships with existing partners, and identify new areas of growth. We seek an energetic, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to enhance our capabilities, execute key priorities, and grow quickly into a crucial resource for staff and scholars.

This is a full-time position in Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Team Coordination: Facilitate weekly meetings, track priorities, and ensure clarity and accountability across the governance team and collaborators
  • Program Support: Work closely with Director and Research Fellows to identify potential efficiencies in project development and implementation, opportunities for new relationships, and general “shot-spotting” for relevant issue areas
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support external relationships with policymakers, donors, and coalition partners by managing meeting prep, follow-ups, and CRM hygiene
  • Event Management: Lead the planning and execution of briefings, roundtables, and convenings in DC and beyond—including scheduling, materials, and logistics
  • Grant and Impact Tracking: Help ensure grant deliverables are met on time and assist in measuring and communicating the impact of the team’s work

Qualifications

FAI welcomes applicants from a range of backgrounds, including think tanks, Congress, policy nonprofits, armed services, or mission-driven startups. Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Enthusiastic support for FAI's mission and a keen interest in our community of builders, hackers, and policy experts.
  • Prior experience working in program management in the public sector (Capitol Hill, executive agencies, federal court clerkships, etc.)
  • Refined writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and maintain team alignment toward goals.
  • Extreme attention to detail. Enjoys working in the weeds.
  • A track record of making others more effective through clarity, structure, and follow-through.
  • Passion for advancing American technology and national security to support a more dynamic, prosperous, and peaceful Republic.

Benefits and Perks

  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) match up to 6%
  • $1,000 annual book credit
  • Monthly commuter benefit
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • Dynamic work schedule in a hybrid office environment in Washington, DC, with free snacks & drinks.
  • The projected salary range for this role is $70,000–$90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
