The Foundation for American Innovation champions the technology, talent, and ideas essential to American prosperity, security, and flourishing. We are builders, hackers, and scholars advancing an optimistic vision of the future. Our new Washington, DC offices are the physical expression of that ambition, and we’re looking for someone to run them well.

To support this mission, FAI is seeking an Office Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our DC headquarters as we grow our team and deepen our presence in the capital.

About the Role

This full-time position, based in Washington, DC, reports to the VP of Operations and works closely with the communications, outreach, and program teams.

You’ll be the first person staff and guests encounter when they walk through the door, and the person who makes sure everything behind that door works. The role covers facilities, vendors, front desk operations, and event support — the connective tissue that keeps a fast-moving organization running.

Responsibilities

  • Reception and Front Desk:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, guests, and deliveries
    • Manage incoming communications, including calls, mail, and general office inquiries
    • Maintain a welcoming, professional environment consistent with FAI’s standards
  • Facilities and Vendor Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day office operations, including supplies, equipment, and maintenance
    • Manage relationships with building management, vendors, and service providers
    • Coordinate repairs, improvements, and any buildout work with relevant contractors
    • Maintain inventory of office supplies and anticipate needs proactively
  • Event and Hospitality Support:
    • Support logistics for in-office events, meetings, and staff gatherings
    • Coordinate catering, setup, AV, and guest arrangements for hosted events
    • Assist the outreach team with logistics for external events held at FAI’s offices

Qualifications

FAI welcomes applicants from a range of backgrounds. This is an entry-level role, and we’re happy to train the right person.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong organizational skills and a high standard for follow-through
  • A warm, professional presence with genuine hospitality instincts
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in facilities, office operations, or event coordination
  • Proficiency with standard office software and a willingness to learn FAI’s operational tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Alignment with FAI’s right-of-center, reform-oriented mission

Benefits and Perks

  • Annual salary range estimated to be $50,000–$60,000 but is negotiable based on experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) match up to 6%
  • $1,000 annual book credit
  • Monthly commuter benefit
  • Unlimited vacation policy

To Apply

Qualified candidates should submit the following application materials (in order) in one PDF document:

  • Cover letter including:
    • Paragraph(s) describing three distinct reasons you are drawn to FAI’s mission and how you came to those beliefs
  • Salary requirements
  • Résumé
