Lincoln Network’s 2020 funding breakdown

Lincoln Network’s 2020 funding breakdown

Lincoln Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 2014 with a mission to help bridge the gap between Silicon Valley and DC from a pro-market, pro-innovation perspective. Lincoln’s founders recognized that the government needs, and the people it serves deserve, new ideas and technologies to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness. We founded our policy team in 2018. Since, we have expanded to seven members, allowing us to take on more projects, including education tech, cyber security, while also conducting research on China's sharp power in the tech sphere. Lincoln Policy seeks to further advance the Network’s mission while also leveraging technology and technical talent to solve governance and policy challenges.

To ensure transparency and independence our team now annually reports our funding breakdown, we remain thoughtful of the funding we receive as to not allow private interest to motivate our actions or redirect our mission. Independence leads our fundraising efforts towards foundations and individuals with less emphasis on corporate gifts.

In 2020, Lincoln’s annual budget was $2.7 million. As projected in the 2019 funding breakdown, we remained steadfast in accepting gifts primarily from foundations. In 2020, Lincoln received 56% of our annual budget from foundations, 17% from individuals, and 27% from corporations.

Current major supporters include, but are not limited to, the Miles Foundation, the Sarah Scaife Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Democracy Fund, and the Searle Freedom Trust.
