The Foundation for American Innovation (FAI) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 with a mission to develop technology, talent, and ideas that support a better, freer, and more abundant future. Ours is a politics of builders, hackers, and founders working to advance a more perfect union between technology and the American republic.

To further this mission, FAI is seeking an Operations Associate to support day-to-day execution of internal operations and external programming. This is an early-career opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, events, communications, and team coordination. The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with senior staff across FAI’s programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and administrative functions such as scheduling, office management, travel arrangements, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain systems and ensure compliance including CRM, regulatory documentation, and employee files.
  • Support event planning and execution including dinners, conferences, retreats, and policy briefings.
  • Provide assistance to senior leadership and assist with special projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Interest in FAI’s mission and eagerness to learn about our community of technologists and policy thinkers
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear writing and professionalism in external interactions
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Slack, and Excel; willingness to learn platforms such as Airtable, Notion, or Adobe Creative Cloud
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in a similar role; internships or part-time work in events, communications, or nonprofit operations are welcome
