Recent developments in artificial intelligence suggest that much of the day-to-day operations of think tanks may about to be substantially transformed and accelerated through technology. This hackathon aimed to push the envelope and see what might be around the corner. We brought together a group of tech-proficient think tankers that have been experimenting (or at least vibe coding) with using LLMs in their own work for a day of collaboration and prototyping. We looked at projects that explore things like: 

AI tools for bill, regulation, voting, and news tracking 

Research report, data visualization, and analysis generation

Policy "copilot" features that provide in-line assistance to the tasks that think tanks engage in every day 

Developing structured evaluations to test new commercial models for their proficiency against policy analysis tasks

Hackers formed teams and spent the day developing tools. 


The Foundation for American Innovation and the Institute for Progress co-hosted a hackathon working on tech bottlenecks for thinktanks

The Forum has one objective: to bring the leaders from factory floors, laboratories, and construction sites across the country into conversation with policymakers working to shape America’s manufacturing renaissance, because America has always been at its best when it builds.
